Overview – Skill Development Cell

The Skill Development Cell focuses on up gradation of skill to international standards through significant industry involvement and to develop necessary framework and standards for training of our students. The objectives of this cell is to encourage proficiency and skill development of students by conducting approved training programs in different sectors and providing appreciation and certification on successful completion.

The Skill Development Cell of KIT focuses on the principle of SAT – Soft skills, Aptitude and Technical skills; that in a complete nut shell, define the corporate readiness of a student. The SDC team closely monitors the students and finds out the gaps that arise in the employability of the students. Post brainstorming sessions and rigorous planning, the cell adapts the methodology of finishing school, which solely works on the holistic development of the students. It fosters the students to enhance their employability and make them industry ready by providing training on the following parameters

The key objectives of Training Cell are –

  • To build Entrepreneurial culture among students
  • To act as intermediary between the College and Industries
  • To organize visits to industries
  • To organize workshops and seminars

So when you study at KIT, you will not only gain knowledge, you will also know how to use it.

  1. Soft Skills Training

There are instances of students coming from remote or satellite locations. This acts as a big challenge in making these students place able, as these students lack the basic skills such as communication skills, social etiquettes, and many such personality traits. SDC provides insights of the corporate do’s and don’ts, and adds value to the personality of students through guiding them on various modules such as dressing etiquettes, emailing etiquettes, telephonic etiquettes, communication skills and many more parameters of corporate relevance. This training makes them confident enough to sit for placements.

  1. Aptitude Training

The skill development cell focuses on enhancing aptitude related skills in the students, for making sure that most of the students qualify the eligibility tests of various companies. To make this possible, the trainers work hard in imbibing skills related to Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability, Logical Reasoning and related fields.

  1. Technical Training

Apart from gaining technical knowledge in the academics, the students are also provided with a detailed session on enhancing their technical skills related to language and programming, such as C, C++, Java, Python, AUTOCAD and many others fields of importance. This makes the students placement ready, and helps them crack the competitive qualifier tests, such as, eLitmus, TCS NQT, etc

On Campus Training

Training Cell arranges On-Campus Training for the all KIT students at college campus. These Trainings are totally based on the courses, which gives practical knowledge to the students. The cell organized many types of trainings for the students, which are helpful to make them better prepared for their future career and also in placement in reputed industry. The cell organized many courses like Autodesk Online Course, Autodesk Inventor, C-Language, C++, Java, J2EE, .Net, Embedded Systems, Robotics Lab, some workshops like IBM workshop, HCL workshop, HP Workshop and many more. On Campus Training alliance with Hewlett – Packard Education Service, HCL Info Systems Ltd. (HCL K2 Academy), I_CAD/CAM, CADD Centre, MITBOTS.

Off Campus Training

Training Cell arranges Off-Campus Training in summer and winter vacations to all the KIT Students for all discipline nearest to their home. In Off-Campus Training in cell provides short term courses based on their course. In off campus training students learn many courses like JAVA, J2EE, ProE, .Net, Data Structure, Automation, Embedded System, C++, SCADA, PLC, Aptitude classes, trainings related to Management Courses and many more. The students of the KIT Undergo their off-Campus Training at Various Prestigious Organizations as NIIT, New Horizon, ICTe, MCS Geotech, TWC Web Creation, Academics UPDESCO, Telegent, Future Academy, CADD Concept Ducat, Cetpa Infotech, Hero Mindmine, UPTECH Computer Consultancy Ltd., Appin Knowledge Solution, Mind Tech Trainees, Kotak Life Insurance, Futuronix Automation Pvt. Industrial Visits and Seminars

The Skill Development Cell of Kanpur Institute of Technology organised various industrial visits and seminars to give the students a touch and feel of what and how the industry performs the daily routine tasks and how technological advancements have made the industry more productive. Here is a glimpse of some of the seminars and industrial visits.

SEBI, Lucknow

The students of Business Administration department were provided a chance to interact with the officials of SEBI at their Lucknow office. The speakers made the students aware of the ongoing market trends, various investment buckets and made the students aware of various markets such as Sensex, NIFTY, MCX and how they operate. The students got to understand the practicality of financial studies and the technical terminologies of financial world.

Water Treatment Plant, Ganga Barrage

The students visited Ganga Barrage and learnt about new technologies that are being used at the water treatment plant, to make the drinking water clean and potable. The students understood how the mix of software and hardware has changed the world of mechanical procedures and how this industry poses a great potential in employability.

Sebiz Square, Chandigarh

The Skill Development Cell organised a visit for students of Kanpur Institute of Technology, where they were taught the basics of spinning and fabric manufacturing through the use of automated machinery assemblies. The students were excited to learn how the advancements in AI Algorithms have made the work of humans easy and accurate.

Reliance Capital

Officials from Reliance Capital conducted a seminar for the students of management and business administration field on the topic ‘Financial Literacy’. The speakers made the students aware of the financial markets, the investment tools that are available in the market and how these tools impact the financial world as a whole.

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai

Kanpur Institute of Technology, in association with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre organised a knowledge sharing session on ‘Empowering India through Atomic Energy’. The vision of this seminar was to inculcate the spirit of inquisitiveness towards atomic research, in the minds of students and to explain the significant changes the transformation in utilisation of atomic energy related technologies have brought in India.

M/s Rimjhim Stainless Steel Ltd., Unnao

Kanpur Institute of Technology successfully conducted an Industrial Visit for Students of Mechanical Engineering in “M/s Rimjhim Stainless Steel Limited”, Unnao on 4th April 2022. The Industrial visit was graced by Mr. P.N Singhal, General Manager and Mr. Yogesh Agrawal, Chairman and M.D. with their all Technical Staff in Rimjhim Stainless Steel Ltd, Unnao. The aim of this Visit was to provide the best knowledge to the students to understand the industrial culture and also relate their theory knowledge with Practical Knowledge. M/s Rimjhim Stainless Steel belongs to the part & parcel of the Stainless Steel family having processes in a variety of products. It has composite facilities which include Melting shop, wire Rod, Rolling Mill, and Round Bar etc.

M/s Frontier Alloy Steels Limited, Kanpur

Kanpur Institute of Technology successfully conducted an Industrial Visit for Students of Mechanical Engineering in “M/s Frontier Alloy Steels Limited”, Kanpur on 16th April 2022. The Industrial visit was graced by Mr. Mannu Bhatia, M.D., Mr. A.K. Mondal, Director and CA Sumit Agrawal with their all Technical Staff in Frontier Alloy Steels Ltd, Kanpur. The aim of this Visit was to provide the best knowledge to the students to understand the industrial culture and also relate their theory knowledge with Practical Knowledge. M/s Frontier Alloy Steels Ltd, Kanpur belongs to the part & parcel of the Stainless Steel family having processes in a variety of products. It builds a diverse range of products which fall under four variants of the rolling stock of Indian railways. This includes essentially everything on a wagon, from couplers, buffers, bogies, wheels, draft gears and more. It has manufacturing facilities in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh and Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh.
